Tonight it all came down around me. I had to do something around the house. In this case that would be mowing the yard. I hate mowing the yard. Words are not strong enough for this. I loath the fact that I bust my ass to subjugate nature into some form of unnatural perfection.

But I pushed though and I mowed. I doubted my place in the universe and if I had any real direction in life. I doubted if I was really a man, and I wanted to live in the halcyon fall days of youth. I doubted I was a good provider to bunny (an odd thought considering we are equals in our relationship.) After many internal profane thoughts and a few profane words spoken out loud. The front yard was mowed...

...and it only took 45 minutes. The back yard I know takes at least twice as long. Well that will take me two nights and still have plenty of time to get other things done.

You may want to check the deck height on your mower. They're usually set to two inches, or lower, but if you set it to three inches, the grass doesn't expend as much energy re-growing it's leaves, and so you wind up mowing less often. Instead, the grass spends time building root networks and such. So you wind up with a healthier lawn that you have to mow less often.

Thank you for the advice. I have the deck set to the highest possible level. Oregon in the spring is perfect grass growing weather. A few days of rain followed by bright sunny days. I've seen inches of grass growth with in a week. Just got to wait until summer hits and the only thing you mow is the dandelions. }:-) Until then, more mowing! At least I can feel like accomplish something good when I'm done.

Personally I hate it as I have a two step process.. First I have to go around and demining the back yards. That takes about 20 minutes as the two mine layers seem very prolific in their efforts. Then hauling out the mower and actually doing the job, that takes another 30 min :( Course now that I have a sharp(er) blade it takes a few minutes less. For some reason though, I did not think your lawn was as large as mine, even with the puppy related delawning that occured over the winter.
