I accept myself as a tautology
Apr. 21st, 2006 08:16 am"There’s only one thing that I know how to do well
And I’ve often been told that you only can do
What you know how to do well
And that’s be you,
Be what you’re like,
Be like yourself"
They Might be Giants, "Whistling in the Dark"
If above seems to easy, you are over thinking it. Personality and self is not a logical construct. It's an emotional construct. Now reason has a good place in the mind and emotional response needs to be tempered with reason, but there is no proof to the statement "I like chocolate." There is no calculus of emotion to show that from self that one must like sunny days. There is no inductive poof that can take the likes and dislikes of a person and show what one will like.
I can assure you that the above is not an easy thing to accept. The emotional world I grew up in showed me that emotion was bad. It caused the people in my life to act poorly and cause bad things to happen. So to abandon logic as a basis of self and become an emotional being is not easy and I'm still in process.
