Cooking WIN
Mar. 18th, 2009 07:54 pmI don't cook much. I mostly just have some single pot recipes that I enjoy myself but would not share with others. Tonight I put into action not only good tasting food, cheap food and mass quantities. I made beans! That's right beans.
4 cups of white beans
one medium yellow onion
one ham hock
6 to 7 cups of water
Put beans, and ham hock in crock pot. Peel then coarsely chop onion. Add onion to crock pot. Add water until crock pot is almost full. Put crock pot on low for 8-12 hours.
That's it and you'll have beans until you are sick of them!
For next time - adding a bay leaf!
Oh the total cost for food for one for 10 meals or so, less than five dollars. Or if your local ask me for my spare ham hock. Save some money. Be sure to find someone to share with!
