Looking at my Shadow...
Nov. 1st, 2006 09:52 amMy good friend Lindsey was kind enough to get me a copy of an Ursla La Guin essay about a Hans Christian Anderson fable. This prompted me to think about my dark side. Ursla does a better job of describing all of these things, but I do not accept my shadow, my darker impulses. I see every thing in black and white. So when I want to indulge in things that are not the best, but nothing wrong with it (a beer, a cigar, ect (especially in the amounts I consume)). I become evil. I can't be gray or see other people as gray. I can't see other people's shadows and realize that they and myself can be more complex than this binary world view I have.
Interestingly, the fifth Harry Potter book is helping me. He is angry and dealing with people who are not good or evil.
